Happy Monday! Mondays are usually not everyone’s favorite day. If we are being honest sometimes we get tired of the hustle and bustle. Sometimes we feel unmotivated and uninspired. But today’s post I want to encourage you by sharing five things that motivate me and help me keep things in perspective.
1. My family motivates me.
I truly have a desire to make my family proud. Sure I have made mistakes and I’ve been imperfect but aren’t we all? But I really am motivated to do my best not only for my own goals but I think about my family as well. I want them to be proud of what I’ve accomplished and most of all be proud of the kind of person that … Read more
I grew up in the South which had more traditional views, like women often get married young. Some families in my circle had an opinion that a marriage proposal should be soon after a high school diploma. So while my gal peers got a husband, kid(s), and the white picket fence after high school, I got 3 degrees, loan debt, and adult braces. Even while I sit here as a single gal writing this post with a box of Valentine’s Russell Stover Chocolates I bought myself, I rebel against the idea that I’m a bird that never flew. Today’s method of work hard to get what you want has turned into an obsession for some. This mentality that blood and sweat and certainly no time for tears is the slogan of success. But I am challenged sometimes by what I see from this push at all cost mentality to get to the top especially for what it can do to an individual. … Read more
The other day I hopped onto the elevator at work and sat there for a few minutes. Finally, I realized that well the elevator wasn’t moving. I realized I had not pressed the button for it to go in the direction I needed it to go. The elevator had all the potential to go forward but in till I activated its potential, it wasn’t going anywhere. In the same way, we have all the potential in the world inside of us, but we have to activate it. It is called having a sense of direction in life.
Why is it important to have a sense of direction in life? Just like the elevator was not going anywhere without direction, so it is the same with … Read more
